    Increase of 72.8% Overseas Buyers, Comparing to 2007


    DPGshow 2008, under the message of 'See, Touch, Feel, Experience and Print the World' had 62 exhibitors and showed amazing and various digital printings' world to around 64,000 of visitors including Photo Show visitors. Of them, 14,338 home and overseas visitors were purposely there for the only DPGshow. This show proved its slogan
    "Print the World" especially with 72.8% increase of overseas buyers.

    Digital Printing, there? no impossible
    DPGshow, which stands for International Digital Printing & Graphic Design Show, has promoted itself greatly as a brand exhibition since the beginning. To lead specialization, popularization and globalization of large format market is the reason of DPGshow persistently held from the 1st opening in 2004 to 5th show.
    It is the only show about digital printing in Korea and its contents with full of merits will give the gateway to success. And it is sure that the only place where new products and new technologies show up at the first time. Indeed, there were new large digital printing machines around 10 units including various media, new solutions, after-work subsidiary materials and so on.
    Like Convergence trend at this time, digital printing is also spread to textile, printing, photo market and etc. in large format printing business, and DPGshow was planned to provide a making organic relationship to share the advantages of each market.

    Various range of new products in large format printing
    Diversity was the main feature in the large format printing field in DPGshow 2008. Products?range was more widened to overcome the current depression of sign market through research and development to break down market.
    Again this year, new UV machines have been released and it is remarkable that they were introduced not only for sign market but also for industrial purpose, comparing to the previous year. Hewlett Packard Korea Co. Ltd released UV machine for the first time after they undertook Colorspan and they attracted much attention from visitors. Other Korean companies also introduced UV machines and widened their market to mobile phone case and interior market. Kibaek Kim who runs "Digital Tech" in China said that "I am so concerned about UV flatbed system more than Roll to Roll type. I am notifying some examples of convergence."

    New P.O.P products among material, item and technology
    In banner post market, Bannerpia and Cheongsan POPIA introduced new products as they did last year. Bannerpia International released LOHAS BANNER using bamboo support to domestic market for the first time. They succeeded to control the elasticity of bamboo support so that they could make the light and strong product. They introduced it at ISA International Sign Expo in advance of DPGshow and received positive feedback from visitors. At DPGshow, visitors passing by Bannerpia booth also tried to touch bamboo support.
    Chengsan POPIA showed event banner and Y-banner. Event banner is divided into indoor use and outdoor use, and it can be used for streetlight adhesion(one/both side), sign adhesion(one/both side), ceiling adhesion(one/both side), protrusion adhesion(one side). It can be used semi-permanently by changing banner especially for ceiling and wall side adhesion indoors. Chengsan POPIA produced mid-mold to make Y-banner can adjust its size freely according to banner width and create one or both side production.
    Visitors were also interested in new types of products like a combination of movie clip and banner stand. Beam projector shoots images to rear of banner so that people can see images in front of banner. This can be made up to 200 inch and the cost is less than using PDP.

    Flatbed printer suggests high possibilities of business
    Flatbed printer had most interests from visitors at DPGshow. The level of visitors who see flatbed is different with that of last year. Last year, visitors used to ask, "What is flatbed printer?" when flatbed printer demonstrated into golf ball and other media. But this year, they questioned in detail and questions were upgraded like "Do they need pre-preparation?", "Can I use white ink?"
    This implies that the range of flatbed printer usage is widened. Flatbed printer got huge interests not only from visitors and buyers related to sign business but also those from photo show. Like sign market, photo market is also getting digitalization and the rate people in photo market use flatbed printer is, therefore, getting more and more.
    The most attractive thing in flatbed printer was that it can penetrate the market that large format printer can not touch. This takes a big part to open new types of occupation.

    Focusing on publicity through DPGshow rather than sales
    Large format printing market is having singular depression in history with negative developments such as administration placard withdrawal done by Seoul city hall at the end of last year. This depression has effected to DPGshow because digital printing was the main subject for this show. That is why exhibitors focused on publicity through DPGshow rather than sales. Again, exhibitors have attracted potential buyers after DPGshow according to market situation rather than current buyers.
    To start additional business except their key business is a trend in DPGshow 2008. Items for new business that exhibitors chose were low risk and to be available for other market except large format market.
    DPGshow 2008 has clearly shown the directions where digital printer market should go and what the current situation is at this hard time. It means that digital printing market should focus not only simply on large format printing but also on small format printing. Once again, DPGshow 2008 tells us that it is important to harmonize mass media and small media.
    Particularly, distributors and manufacturers for image CD and books had good results comparing to those ink media shops of which main business is in large format printing market. And those companies also got many customers from Photo show 2008 which was held concurrently.
    DPGshow 2008 has reflected an atmosphere of how digital printing market will be changed. Others said that DPGshow has to provide not only wide format printing machine but also various issues as IT technologies changes gradually. As Photo show is held with DPGshow at the same time, there are many requests that DPGshow has to show other things more than large format market.
