OUTSTANDING
Well-being became the most concern for the contemporaries and the concern is
getting higher.
Government's Eco Friendly Policy speeds this trend up and
this causes a big spotlight on Korean food, which is well known for a good food.
Cafe Ba-ry has developed fusion Korean menus to accept foreign customers and the
shop installed a facade to differentiate to other Korean restaurant.
Cafe Ba-ry(hereinafter Ba-ry) is a Korean restaurant located at Western
Dome, a shopping mall(Ilsan, Seoul) and most menus are fusion Korean. If you
think you are a gourmet, you shouldn't miss this.
Ba-ry has developed a
fusion Bibimbob(boiled rice with assorted mixtures) and they are preparing
various fusion Korean foods to enter into world market. Ba-ry's Bibimbob is
loved for women as it keeps the original taste while it is a diet food. They
serve a range of wines and salad, and customers can taste Eastern and Western
flavors at the same time. As Bary persues well-being concept, customers can feel
naturalism in and out of the restaurant, especially woodshaped inside wall and
facade. The facade inspired from forest is made of channel letters and it
matches Ba-ry's concept that serves fusion Korean food with natural
herbs.
Even though Ba-ry is located on crossroad, they needed something to
attract more attention from customers.
Ikjun Jin, CEO of Design Group J1,
installer of the exterior facade, said, "Bary is located in the 2nd floor with 3
side mirror so there is only about 1m height to install the sign between 2nd and
3rd floor. Because 'Cafe Ba-ry' was a quite short letter to appeal customers, we
decided to install a facade with LED to obtain more interests from more people
and to make the restaurant dynamic. In this way, we also could avoid the
government sign regulations."
The facade was successful to take customers'
attention. Jongsun Kim, executive of Ba-ry, said, "This facade make a very good
effect in an advertisement aspect. In our government regulations, 'one shop, one
sign' is the standard. But this facade doesn't include any letters so it isn't
belonged to sign products."
As above-stated, LEDs are used for the facade's
light source. LEDs don't be just a light source but also they are displayed for
various contents to express 4 seasons. Artware, solution developer, fabricated
Ba-ry's facade.
Jidong Ryu, designer of Artware, said, "We programmed
4-season concept into Ba-ry's facade. People can see seasonal symbols such as
flowers, leaves or rain and so on. All movies are made of Flash and controlled
by computer, so we can make whatever we think."
Moving images on the facade
are smooth and changed naturally and it looks luxurious. For these effects,
controller takes a crucial role. Artware's controller has got Top Brand Award
from Seoul with its excellent stability.
Color expression is one that Ba-ry
can't ignore. Ryu said that "To make the image move smoothly, 1000 colors were
not enough. LEDs used for the facade can express more than 1 billion. Even
though people can't figure out the number of colors, 1 billion colors helps the
moving images more natural."

STUNNING LIGHTING
PROVIDES THE
JOY
Colorful variegated lighting attracts people passing by it. Lighting is a
good source to catch people's attention. The first iSTATION Plaza has changed
its service to come to customers providing lots of fun and attracting
lighting.
Digital appliances are essential for all generations from children to the
aged living in the era. Especially, the users who use navigation system, as a
musthave items for drivers, and PMP(Personal media player) in Korea, are
gradually increasing.
iSTATION is the brand of Digital Cube, which is leading
portable convergence appliance market and it accounts for more than 60% in
portable appliance market.
Last July, Digital Cube opened the first iSTATION
Plaza in Shinsadong(Gangnam-gu) and provides services to visitors. Visitors can
buy iSTATION products and try to use new released products at iSTATION
Plaza.
Visitors can repair their products at the service center if they are
iSTATION users. iSTATION Plaza is built like digital cafe so that visitors can
rest while they try for products. The size of iSTATION Plaza is around 30m2
which is the biggest among similar shops.
iSTATION Plaza is comprised of 4
sections which are theme stage, sales, display and A/S and they seem to be
separated but also looking connected organically by the curves. Curves make the
area extremely bigger and make the place fluid give a comfortable mood to
visitors. Visitors can rest while they try for products with this
environment.
This curve concept is also applied to the sign, Embossed circles
and variegated color LED lighting match well each other and maximize the effect
at night. Splendid lighting performance at night gives a mythical atmosphere and
appeals iSTATION's leading technologies. Circles on the sign also helps
iSTATION's positive image to customers.
Koreart Sign designed and fabricated
the sign. Chul Jung, the director of Kreart Sign said, "iSTATION wanted a unique
formative design so we used a hemisphere to give uneven surface and moving
lights. We placed LEDs around the hemisphere to make the effect that lights are
gathered into the center." iSTATION Plaza will have more shops over the country
with this concept.
